Hot Water Systems Sydney

Repairs, Installation and Replacement

Same-Day Service. All Brands. All System Types.

No hot water is never a “we’ll get to it next week” kind of job. Dead unit at 6am before school, a storage tank leaking into the garage, a continuous-flow system that won’t light, we’ve seen it all and we treat every one of those as urgent. We repair and replace electric, gas, solar, and heat pump systems, and we’re accredited service agents for the major brands, Rheem, Rinnai, Dux, Bosch, and Vulcan. Ring us once and you’ll get a licensed plumber on the other end, not someone trying to upsell you a new tank.

Hot Water Repairs and Replacements Across Sydney

Every Sydney household runs on hot water, so when yours fails, whether it’s a ten-year-old tank finally calling it quits, a gas valve playing up, or a cracked solar collector, all that matters to you is getting it working again today. That’s why we carry the most commonly needed replacement units in the van. Most Sydney homes are back up and running within 24 hours of that first call, and for repairs, our techs are trained across all major brands and carry the parts to sort most faults on the spot.

Sigma Plumbing

Hot Water System Repairs Sydney

If yours can be fixed, we’ll fix it, we’re not in the business of pushing a new unit on you when a repair does the job. At Sigma Plumbing we cover failed heating elements on electric systems, faulty gas valves or ignitors, temperature and pressure relief valve failures, thermostat faults, and anode rod failures on storage tanks. All brands, all system types.

Hot Water System Replacement Sydney

Sometimes repair just doesn't make sense, age, corrosion, or a part that isn't made anymore. We'll supply and install a like-for-like replacement, or if it suits your home, upgrade you to something more efficient (heat pump, solar, continuous flow). Most replacements are wrapped up in one visit.

Emergency Hot Water Repairs

No hot water right now? Call 0426 582 778. We treat this as a priority job and aim for same-day response, with common units already on the van so you're not stuck waiting on parts.

Gas Hot Water System Service

Both storage and continuous-flow gas systems need a licensed gas fitter for any internal work, which is exactly what we are. We service Rinnai, Rheem, Dux, Bosch, and Vulcan units, and any gas work gets reported to your network provider as required by law.

Electric Hot Water System Service

The most common setup across Sydney apartments and older homes. We repair and replace all electric storage systems, including off-peak (controlled load) and continuous-power.

Heat Pump Hot Water System Installation

Currently the most energy-efficient option going, and eligible for NSW Government rebates under the Home Energy Upgrade program. We install these and can talk you through whether you qualify. Brands: Reclaim Energy, Sanden, Stiebel Eltron, Rheem.

Solar Hot Water System Service

Solar systems need regular servicing, collector checks, frost valve inspections, booster element maintenance. We service all the major solar brands and can pin down faults across the collector, tank, and booster.

Which Hot Water System Is Right for a Sydney Home?

Gas storage hot water

A storage tank heated by gas. Reliable, widely available across Sydney’s gas-reticulated suburbs, and one of the cheaper systems to install. Running costs higher than heat pump. Suits households already on natural gas.
Heats water on demand — no storage tank, no standby heat loss. Popular in Sydney apartments and homes with high hot water demand. Brands: Rinnai, Rheem, Bosch. Requires adequate gas line pressure. More expensive to install than storage.
Standard in Sydney apartments and homes without gas connection. Off-peak (controlled load) electric can reduce running costs significantly. Suitable for any property. Lowest purchase price of all types; higher running costs than gas or heat pump unless on off-peak tariff.
Extracts heat from ambient air to heat water — uses approximately one-third of the electricity of a standard electric system. Eligible for NSW Government rebates in 2026. Requires outdoor installation space. Best choice for replacing electric storage in Sydney’s temperate climate.
Uses rooftop solar collectors to heat water, with a gas or electric booster for overcast periods. Highest upfront cost but lowest long-term running cost. Suits Sydney’s high annual solar hours. Requires north-facing roof space.
Our Process

How We Handle a
Hot Water Emergency in Sydney

Step 1
We Answer 24/7

Call 0426 582 778 any time. Tell us the system type, what's happening, and your address. We'll tell you if you need to isolate the system for safety (gas faults, leaking tanks) and give you an estimated arrival time.

Step 1
Step 2
Diagnose and Quote On-Site

Our technician turns up with diagnostic tools and common replacement parts already on hand. We assess the fault, tell you honestly whether repair or replacement makes more sense, and give you a fixed price before starting anything.

Step 2
Step 3
Repaired or Replaced, Same Day

Most repairs and replacements happen in a single visit. We remove and dispose of the old unit, commission the new or repaired system, and check nothing else is off (pressure, isolation valves, temperature relief valve condition).

Step 3

What Sydney Customers Say

4.9 Stars from 200+ Verified Google Reviews
N. Kaur, Parramatta

"Our Rheem storage system had been leaking from the base for two days. Sigma came out next morning, confirmed the tank had failed, and replaced it with a new unit in about three hours. Clean job, old unit removed, reasonable price. Very happy."

T. Anderson, Castle Hill

"Tree roots had cracked the sewer line running under our driveway. Sigma came out, confirmed with the camera that relining was possible, and completed the job while we were at work. Driveway untouched. Excellent outcome."

D. Pham, Concord

"Had cracking in the clay drain under the bathroom slab. Was dreading having to remove the tiles. Sigma showed us on camera exactly where the crack was, rellined the section, and gave us the post-job CCTV report for our records. No tiles lifted, no mess."

Most Sydney hot water system repairs are completed same-day. If a unit needs full replacement, Sigma Plumbing carries common residential hot water units and completes most replacements within 24 hours of the initial call. Call 0426 582 778 for priority service.

Sigma Plumbing services Rheem, Rinnai, Dux, Bosch, Vulcan, Reclaim Energy, Sanden, Stiebel Eltron, Thermann, and Everhot. We are accredited service agents for all major brands and can service systems within manufacturer warranty terms.

The repair-vs-replace decision depends on the system’s age, the cost of the repair relative to a new unit, and parts availability. As a general guide, if the repair cost exceeds 50% of a replacement unit’s installed price, or if the system is more than 10 years old (gas/electric), replacement is usually the better long-term investment. Sigma Plumbing provides this assessment on-site at no additional charge.

Yes. In 2026, the NSW Government’s Home Energy Upgrade program offers rebates for eligible households upgrading from electric hot water storage to a heat pump system. Eligibility depends on the existing system type, household circumstances, and current program criteria. Sigma Plumbing can advise on rebate eligibility at the time of installation.
